Concert at the Kings

June 2, 2014

Long BarrowHim indoors and I finished May off in grand style on 31st with a trip to Wiltshire to check on the Long Barrow, which is coming along a pace. The first two chambers are now completed and pretty much covered with chalk. Hopefully it will be fully complete by August. What a special place to end one’s days. Tim Daw and his team are doing a grand job.

The main reason for driving all the way from Keynsham was actually to spend the afternoon and evening in the camping paddock of the Kings Arms at All Cannings, where the publican was holding the third annual Concert at the Kings. This mini Glasto raises money for local causes and cancer charities and was full of musical delights. This year the line up comprised of The Troggs, Los Pacaminos with Paul Young, Steve Harley and Cockney Rebel, The Straits (without the Dire) and the Boomtown Rats with Sir Bob himself. If you get the chance next year, it’s well worth shelling out for the tickets. Here’s the website with extra info: And here’s a You Tube link to The Troggs playing Wild Thing I would have recorded more but I forgot to take any spare batteries. Doh!
